Born in Válor in 1520, Aben Humeya was a charismatic historical figure as the last of the Moorish Kings of Spain banished to the Kingdom of Granada by the Catholic Kings in 1492. The magic of the pretty countryside along with the friendliness of the local people leaves all visitors to our area drawn to the beautiful Alpujarra region nestled between the impressive Sierra Nevada Mountains that protect us from the north and the Mediterranean Sea with the coast of Almería to the south.
