casa el Olivar
only recently built ( still awaiting termination certificate at time of writing (sept.2010)) with a licence for 150 sq.m., casa el Olivar hopefully ticks all the boxes for someone. Access is by 2km of good cement track from Lanjaron, and the house is located above and behind Lanjaron, with very fine views. It has two levels, each with its own entrance from the land. There are in all three bedrooms, a shower room, a w.c. and a bathroom. Of these, two bedrooms, the bathroom and the w.c. are on the upper level. The lower level is totally indepenedent and self contained. One enters the upper level via the front door or through a utility room/pantry, that leads to a large open plan kitchen/dining room with a door opening onto a side terrace. If one comes in through the front door, one enters a hallway giving access to two bedrooms, a bathroom and a w.c. An elegant curving lounge connects this part of the house to the kitchen/dining room. The lounge and one of the bedrooms open onto the front terrace, which has magnificent views to the south and the Sierra Lujar. From this terrace stairs lead down to the lower level terrace, which is in front of the lower part of the house mentioned previously. The whole house has been built, finished and furnished to exacting standards... there is double glazing, an underfloor heating system (currently not connected to hot water), terracotta flooring and good quality carpentry. The house is not connected to mains electricty ( although this is possible) and in its place is an array of solar panels sufficient for lighting, electronics, hair driers etc. and a coldwash washing machine.. however the house is wired for mains. The refrigerator is gas, as is the cooker. There is a woodburning stove in the lounge. On the roof of the house is a solar water heating system supplying all hot water needs. The land is seven adjoining plots, in total 15,600 sq.m. Most of the land ( 75%) is irrigated terraced olive land, and there is abundant water from two acequias ( irrigation water channels) that supply water to fill a large cement water deposit of 135,000 l, which also supplies domestic water for the house. It is probable that one could build a house similar to the existing one on a second plot of land. ipc/ipc
